Senior League FAQs
1. What are the minimum requirements for participating in the Cherokee Ridge Senior Men’s League?
Answer: There are 4 requirements. An active USGA Handicap, you must be fifty years of age or older, all league players are required to pay into the weekly $10.00 entry fee (this includes the game fee and skins entry), and you must at least pretend to enjoy the game of golf!
2. What are the Cost Associated with a Golf Handicap?
Answer: Currently, a new USGA Handicap is: $50.00; every year after, renewing an existing GHIN. #: $48.00. These prices are subject to change based on the USGAs costs associated with hosting and association fees. We won’t raise this fee unless they raise this fee on us. A transfer from another golf course is considered a renewal, not the new fee.
3. When/where should I pay for my handicap?
You can renew/purchase your handicap through us in the proshop at Cherokee Ridge.
4. Can I use a handicap I have associated with another site or an app I already have on my phone?
Answer: No. Handicap must be through USGA GHIN system. While there are several free apps that offer a handicap, we cannot determine the algorithm and equation they use, so in the interest of equity, we would ask that you obtain and maintain a handicap consistent with the USGA’s standards and the only one recognized at this time by our tournament software is a GHIN handicap index.
5. Is a league fee or membership fee required for participation?
Answer: No. We do not charge a membership fee for the league, so we ask that all players wishing to play in a league tee time pay the $10.00 entry fee each week they participate in the league.
6. Is there a “guest” policy?
Answer: Guests are permitted to play with the group and are permitted to participate in play if they have an active handicap, qualify for seniors and pay the $10 game fee. If a guest does not have a handicap, they may play with league members in a league tee time but still have to pay the $10 game fee and will be in the game as a 0 handicap.
7. Do you offer a skins game?
Answer: Yes, skins are included in your $10 entry fee each week.
8. How do the payouts for the league work?
Answer: Each week, we payout the money paid in by the league members into “Book Money”. We take the total amount of money paid in each week and dedicate 50% of that total to the Gross Division and 50% of that money to the Net Division. Our goal is to pay as many people as possible to spread the wealth around as far as possible. Book Money may only be spent on merchandise in the golf shop by 15 Dec, NO EXCEPTIONS. It may not be used for other golf services. We can no longer roll credit to the next calendar year, spend it or lose it!
9. What formats are played?
Answer: We play several fun formats in addition to a regular Gross/Net stroke play format. In the first few weeks of league play, we will pick games that can be posted for individuals for score, so it helps establish your handicap indexes as soon as possible.
10. How do I sign up for the league?
On our website through the Senior League Registration form (at the top of this page)
